The Simple Woman's Daybook

Wow, I am so excited to find this and participate. I love making new friends and positive personal growth experiences.  Hope you enjoy it too!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... the blue sky is giving way to a brilliant sunset.

I love sunsets.  The one outside my window was similar to this one.

I am thinking
... about the bright promise of the New Year and what hidden joy and surprises are in store.

I am thankful...
that I have a warm place to sleep tonight and sufficient food to eat.

In the kitchen...
I just learned to make Fire-Roasted Tomatoes. It was easier than I thought.

I am wearing...
my favorite penny loafers, new blue jeans, and a bright purple plaid blouse.  I love bright colors, they make me feel happy.

I am creating...
a new black, white, and pink print tiered skirt and matching vest.  Judi taught me how to make the skirt with a simple technique that requires no pattern.

I am going...
to be driving home soon.  The commute to work is 50 miles each way.

I am wondering...
what my best friends Judi and Silvana are doing right now.

Judi, me, and Silvana - Road trip

I am reading...
The Book of Mormon.  One chapter every day first thing in the morning. Best way to start the day.

I am hoping...
to be emotionally stronger and a better example to others this year.

I am looking forward to...
going to the Temple with Silvana.

I am learning ... how to blog.  I love it! I figured out how to add a facebook and a Pinterest button!

Around the house...
we are replacing the fascia and the back exterior wall.  When we started hanging our new Christmas lights last month, the old boards were so weathered they wouldn't hold nails or clips.  The new looks so much better, don't you think? Why did we wait so long? Be watching for an upcoming tutorial blog post on this subject.

I am pondering...
why civility departs under the cloak of anonymity.  Specifically I am referring to road rage during rush hour and political rage on facebook during election season.

A favorite quote for today...
how about a quote from a beloved song: "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."

One of my favorite things...
is definitely hugs. Hugs and other types of positive reinforcement.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
church youth activity tonight, laundry tomorrow night, preparing my garden for new plantings, posting daily on my new blog, and hoping to get my sewing room reorganized so I can finish that cute skirt.

Spring planting 2011-We embellished a little by adding some colorful
pinwheels and a Welcome banner from Dollar tree to add color.

A peek into my day...

  2. Thanks so much for the comment on my blog. Welcome to the Blogosphere! I enjoyed glancing over your first few posts, and the one about your grandparents inspired me to post one about mine. Can always use inspiration!

I got a kick out of your description of your computer skills. We all learn if we aren't afraid to keep pushing buttons, right?! You're ahead of me. I haven't added a Pinterest button!

One more question ... what is Dublin Dr. Pepper? I'm a native Texan but that's a new one on me.

  3. Dublin Dr. Pepper is only distributed by the Dublin DP company in Dublin, TX. They still use the original Imperial Pure Cane Sugar instead of corn sweetener. I live about an hour or so from there, so you can buy Dublin in some stores and restaurants here. It is highly valued amongst DP drinkers.
I look forward to reading your post about your grandparents!
As far as the comp skills go, I am much better now...except for blogging finesse. Any ideas or tips are welcome:)
